Welcome to the new website! Its been a very busy few months and we will update you on all the latest news shortly.07 December 2011 - 17 November 2011 -
I have a connectivity problem with crackling and loss of signal – especially when I move the Minirig or wiggle the cable. Is the unit faulty?
After a lot of emails from customers with similar issues, we have found that the problem is due to the audio cable not being fully inserted into the socket.
When you first use your Minirig, you have to push the audio cable quite hard to get it to go all the way into the socket. It will get easier over time.
If the cable isn’t pushed in properly, it will be a loose and unreliable connection. Once properly inserted the connection is very solid.
Please contact us if you have any further problems.
Can I charge the Minirig using the mains USB adapter that came with my phone?
Yes. You can charge the Minirig from any USB port. It only draws 500mA max which is the minimum rating for any USB port.
My Minirig had been on charge for more than 10 hours but the green light is still flashing. Is this normal?
Yes. There was a minor bug in the software from the last production run which meant that this feature wasn’t implemented and should have been removed from the manual. It has nothing to do with the charging circuit or performance so please don’t worry. Just wait until the LED flashes 100% green and the unit is charged. There is no risk in leaving the unit on charge for extended periods to ensure full charge.
We will work to resolve this minor issue in the next production run.
Why doesn’t the Minirig use a standard micro USB charging socket like my smartphone? This would be much more convenient.
Very simply because the charging socket need to be an airtight seal against the metal body.
The 5.5mm barrel socket is actually very common. It is more reliable, lasts longer, and allows different chargers and voltages to be used.
We will of course re-asses this for the next model.
When the battery reaches its eventual end, is it replaceable?
Good question Chris. Well, the battery is rated to still hold 80% charge after 500 charge cycles. This equates to using your Minirig for 12 hours a day, EVERY DAY for the next 5 YEARS! So in short, we hope your battery will hold out for many many years.
We built this product to be solid and last many years.
You can look after your Minirig battery by not leaving it at full or empty charge for months at a time. If you don’t plan to use it for a while, store it with half 50% charge in a cool place.
This is the same for all lithium batteries.
Please note that the rechargeable lithium polymer battery inside is only replaceable by us and not user replaceable. We will be offering a replacement service at a low cost in the years to come should the battery life start diminishing.
“I love my Minirig, how can I help spread the word!?”
If you love Minirig then you can help us by “liking” this website (bottom right of home page), tweeting about it, telling all your friends (the more of your friends who have them then the bigger your link ups can be!) and by leaving a product review and liking the Minirig on Amazon.
“If I buy two Minirigs, will they give me stereo sound?”
Yes they will… and it will sound amazing! However, you need to split the left and right channels with a stereo splitter cable.
We give these away with every pair of Minirigs purchased and we will start selling them through Amazon shortly. They can be purchased from other suppliers as well.
“Are you planning on bringing out a bluetooth/wireless verion?”
We do of course see the attraction of wireless streaming. However, at the moment there is not a wireless solution which will easily allow multiple Minirigs to link up or act as a stereo pair. Wireless also can compromise sound quality, reduce battery life and increases cost.
When the technology is right, we will develop a wireless product, but not for a while yet.
Please let us know your thoughts on wireless and whether it is something you would like to see by sending in a comment below.
Is there a limit to the number of Minirigs you can connect up?
Obviously there is practical limits but we have had some great parties with over 20 Minirigs linked up in a chain without any problems.
We would love to hear about your Minirig link ups too!
“excellent product highly recommend to anyone!”
“Will the Minirig work with my iPhone?”
Yes, the Minirig will work with any phone or device with a standard 3.5mm headphone output.
You can control the volume using the volume rocker or volume control on the device.
“hi, may i ask what the current delivery times are as I am thinking about ordering one of these speakers. I am going on hols on 26th March and wanted a speaker for then which is why im asking?”
Please check the current stock and delivery times on the Buy Now page
My Minirig has stopped working or the sound is cutting in and out.. what could the problem be?
Any problems with the Minirig and sound are normally down to the cables. We try to use quality cables but they sometimes inevitably fail. Please try using a new 3.5mm jack-jack cable if you have any problems before contacting us.
“Received mine today, one word for it, fantastic. Though can you bring out a nice leather carry case for it.”
We have new high quality nylon/foam carry cases with zips coming in very soon. These will be available to buy for £4.99 once they are in stock.
“Received mine one week ago. It is wonderful! the sound is truly amazing for such a tiny speaker. Thanks!”
