Future Forests Network

Helping support the creation of our Future Forests.
The Future Forests Network CIC (FFN) is a not for profit focused on supporting the connection between volunteers & community tree planting projects throughout the UK.

The FFN encourages people to get stuck in at a community level. With it's positive, optimistic view, the site shows that thousands of people all over the country are empowering themselves and creating positive change through tree planting. The map (futureforestsnetwork.org/map) is the only place to find a comprehensive listing of public tree planting & rewilding projects around the UK. Last planting season more than 500 one off events were featured on the map and there are now 50+ established long term projects being promoted on the map.

Not only does the FFN help people get involved in woodland creation, promote tree planting projects and link up some of the nations largest public woodland creation projects,  but also provides people with the resources they need to set their own schemes.

This year, to celebrate the efforts of thousands of volunteers nationwide, the FFN asked its’ followers to nominate their favourite projects to highlight from this year, and then asked each of these to nominate their volunteer of the year.

Thanks to the support and generosity of Minirigs, we were able to offer a prize to one of these volunteers, a Minirig 3 portable speaker. A really great token of appreciation for such brilliant work! I wouldn’t be surprised if the speaker will provide the soundtrack to many a future planting day.

Every year, all around the country, there are 1000’s of tree planting volunteers getting their hands dirty, so it’s great to be able to acknowledge some of this hard work.

After receiving a series of biographies and pictures of some of the most inspirational characters, one name was picked to receive the minirig speaker.

The winner of “2021s volunteer to highlight” ….. Is …. Simon Lyes, the Voluntary Secretary for Colne Society Tree Society, Huddersfield!!
